The Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE ARGB 120mm CPU Air Cooler – Grey/White is a compact single-tower air cooler designed for users who want strong budget cooling, quiet everyday operation, and RGB aesthetics without moving into large dual-tower air coolers or liquid cooling systems.

At its core, the cooler uses a single 120mm aluminum fin tower heatsink measuring about 120 × 46 × 148 mm, making it relatively slim and easy to fit in most mid-tower and even some compact PC cases. It weighs around 520–640g depending on the variant, giving it a solid but not overly heavy footprint that reduces strain on the motherboard socket compared to larger high-end coolers.

The heatsink is built around five 6mm copper heat pipes, which directly transfer heat from the CPU base plate into the fin stack. This design allows efficient heat distribution for a single-tower cooler, making it suitable for entry-level to mid-range CPUs. The fin stack uses a tight spacing design (around 0.4mm fin thickness and 1.6mm gaps), helping increase heat dissipation surface area while maintaining airflow efficiency.

Cooling is handled by a TL-C12C-S 120mm PWM fan, which is one of Thermalright’s well-known value fans. It runs up to about 1550 RPM (±10%), producing airflow of roughly 66 CFM and static pressure around 1.53 mmH₂O, which is enough for a single tower heatsink of this size. Noise levels remain fairly low at up to about 25.6 dBA, making it a good choice for quiet builds.

A major highlight of this model is its ARGB lighting system, supporting standard 5V 3-pin motherboard sync. The lighting is present on the fan hub and creates a clean glow effect rather than overly aggressive RGB patterns. This makes it popular in white and grey themed builds where aesthetics matter as much as performance.

Compatibility is one of its strongest advantages. It supports a wide range of modern CPU sockets including Intel LGA 1700 / 1200 / 115x and AMD AM4 / AM5, making it future-proof for current-generation systems.

In real-world use, the Assassin King 120 SE ARGB performs best with low to mid-power CPUs like Ryzen 5, Core i3/i5 (non-K or power-limited K CPUs). It can handle moderate workloads and gaming quite well, but it is not designed for high-power CPUs under heavy sustained load or overclocking, where temperatures can rise quickly due to its single-tower design.

Overall, the Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE ARGB is best described as a budget-friendly, compact, and stylish air cooler that offers excellent value for everyday gaming PCs and mid-range builds, especially when space, noise, and aesthetics all need to be balanced.
