The DeepCool AG400 ARGB is a popular single-tower 120mm CPU air cooler designed for budget to mid-range gaming PCs. It is well known for delivering excellent price-to-performance cooling, making it a strong upgrade over stock CPU coolers while maintaining a simple, compact design that fits easily into most PC builds.

At its core, the AG400 uses a single aluminum fin-stack heatsink paired with four 6mm direct-contact copper heat pipes. These heat pipes make direct contact with the CPU surface, allowing heat to be quickly absorbed and transferred into the fin array for efficient dissipation. This design helps the cooler achieve strong thermal performance despite its compact size, with a rated cooling capacity of around 220W TDP, which is impressive for a single-tower air cooler.

The heatsink itself uses a dense “matrix” fin layout, designed to improve airflow distribution and heat dispersion across the aluminum fins. This structure helps maximize cooling efficiency while keeping the overall footprint relatively small, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of PC cases and motherboard layouts.

Cooling is handled by a 120mm PWM ARGB fan, which automatically adjusts its speed based on CPU temperature. The fan typically operates in the range of 500 to 2000 RPM, allowing it to stay quiet during light workloads while ramping up when gaming or under heavy CPU load. It delivers up to around 75 CFM airflow, which is strong for a single-fan air cooler in this category.

A key feature of the AG400 ARGB is its addressable RGB lighting system, integrated into the fan. The lighting connects via a standard 5V 3-pin ARGB header, allowing synchronization with major motherboard RGB software such as ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and ASRock Polychrome Sync. This makes it easy to match the cooler’s lighting with other system components for a unified aesthetic build.

The cooler is designed with excellent RAM compatibility, thanks to its offset heatpipe layout. This ensures that even tall RGB memory modules typically do not interfere with installation, making it a practical choice for modern gaming setups.

Build quality is solid for its price range, featuring a nickel-plated copper base for improved heat transfer and corrosion resistance, along with a hydro-bearing fan that improves durability and reduces long-term noise. Noise levels generally remain under ~31 dB(A) at full speed, making it relatively quiet for everyday gaming use.
